BVS has established two Family Counseling Centers one in Karad and one in Satara respectively. The main aim of establishing these centers is to help families to maintain peace among themselves and help them resolve their conflicts. Due to lack of education, patriarchal thinking, addiction to alcohol, cases of domestic violence are high in remote regions. Particularly females are worst hit victims. Cases such as physical abuse, mental torture, dowry demand, and alcoholism are dealt with at both FCC center.
Family counselling center in Karad was started by BVS, Satara with an aim to help these families resolve these conflicts on 19 August 2002. Since the initiation of FCC Karad many conflicts amongst rural families have been amicably resolved and there is a feeling of contentment among people and especially women.
Society has a tendency to ostracize and exclude individuals who are different in any way, such as those from nomadic and denotified communities, backward castes, scheduled castes or tribes, or those with illnesses such as leprosy, AIDS, and TB. This discrimination is unjust and unfair.
To address this issue, BVS Satara has established Vihaan Care and Support Center, which aims to provide proper medical treatment and facilities to those suffering from deadly diseases such as AIDS and TB. Additionally, the center works towards rehabilitating these patients and their families.
Vihaan Center provides not only medications and medical facilities but also engages patients in fun activities such as art and craft workshops. Young children who are suffering from AIDS and TB are educated and empowered so that they can once again become a part of normal society and lead healthy and peaceful lives. By providing this support and care, Vihaan Center helps to break down the social barriers that prevent people from accessing proper medical care and from leading fulfilling lives.
