Flood Relief and Rehabilitation
The second wave of COVID-19 in Maharashtra was a difficult time for many people, especially those living in rural areas. To make matters worse, several regions of the state were hit by floods, leaving many villages inaccessible and in dire need of help. At BVS Satara, our team of staff members and volunteers, along with the support of many agencies, stepped up to provide relief and rehabilitation to those affected.
Our efforts included distributing food kits to the affected villages and people. These kits contained essential items such as rice, pulses, oil, and other items that were necessary for sustenance. Additionally, we distributed essential hygiene and non-food items such as sanitary napkins, soaps, cleaning agents, and other similar items to many villages and individuals in need.
To ensure access to clean drinking water, BVS also distributed water purifiers in association with several donors. This was a crucial measure as the floods had contaminated many water sources, making them unsafe for consumption. We recognized that access to clean drinking water was essential to prevent the spread of diseases and to ensure the health and well-being of the affected communities.
Our team also undertook activities to clean debris from landslide-hit areas and assisted with other measures that were needed for relief and rehabilitation work. This included repairing damaged infrastructure and helping people rebuild their homes and businesses.
At BVS Satara, we recognize the importance of working together with other agencies, volunteers, and donors to provide effective relief and rehabilitation to those affected by the floods and COVID-19. Our goal was to provide as much support as possible to those who needed it during these challenging times. Details of every event and relief work undertaken by us are mentioned below.
